Allergy Mattress Pad
My friend asked me why I would start a blog on mattress pads. He said you have thousands of people a month going to your mattress information web site and you spend a lot of time answering e-mails. My answer was simple, I believe your bed is the most important area of your house. We spend one third of our life there and it is really a health object even if it is sold by comfort.Allergy mattress pads and Allergy mattress covers make your bed healthier and can even make the mattress last longer. The mattress site isn’t a blog so all the communication is done one on one by e-mail. I wanted a place where many people could share both their questions and read not only my answers but some that other write.
Most of the posts will be aimed at allergies but even if you don’t have them there is a body of medical results that say the less allergens you encounter the healthier you can be.
Many years ago researchers began looking at what could be done in the home environment to help control the allergen triggers that cause asthmatic and allergic reactions. We spend over a third of our lives in the bedroom, this is where they started. They used two groups. The test group used zippered allergy mattress pad and the control group had none. The results were astonishing At the end of only one month the test group showed a major difference in the signs and symptoms of asthma.
In an article published by Johns Hopkins:
“Mite population and allergen levels decreased by 90% or more within a month of placing mattress and pillow covers and treating bedding.”
Eggleston MD, P. “Clinical Trials of Allergen Avoidance in Established Asthma.” Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. November 2001.
Dust mites are tiny creatures, typically around 250-300 micrometers in length. Dust mites love the warm, humid conditions of our bedding, so much so, that the typical used mattress may weigh as much as 100 lbs more after 10 years.Humans react to the proteins in the dust mite allergen made up of decomposed mite bodies and their feces.
Sneezing, itchy, watery eyes, and wheezing are some typical reactions to dust mite allergen. Your immune system protects you from these allergens but one there are more allergens than the immune system can conquer you experience irritating symptoms
Because of the microscopic size of dust mites and their allergen, the technology used to develop and manufacture zippered “allergen proof” or “mite-proof” encasing can be complicated. What they do isn’t.
Mites that are inside the encased pillow or mattress are trapped. Blocked from their constant food source (your shed, dead skin cells), they eventually die.At the same time the mite allergen is trapped inside so it can’t get out to the air you breath.
Even if you don’t suffer from asthma we live in a world full of irritants and eliminating some is just a good idea.

My team is out. So much for Cameroon this year. How quick was that. I really assumed that they had a good shot to do well in this years world cup. I guess I will have to wait. Maybe its time to jump on the Argentina bandwagon. Looks like Demichelis has already scored. Go Argentina. To turn around my day that was ruined by Cameroon, I have been watching some funny jokes.. Here is a good one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3j7uSbccSc
i have been suffering from Asthma ever since i was little kid. i can only manage it by taking medicines and some food supplements. |
lol several of the reviews individuals post are such stoner remarks, from time to time i think about whether they honestly read the post and content before leaving a comment or if perhaps they basically skim the subject of the blog post and compose the first thing that comes to mind. regardless, it is nice to look over keen commentary every now and then in contrast to the same, classic blog vomit which i mostly see on the web i’m going to have fun with a smattering of hands of facebook poker so long
Wow, great article. having awoken yesterday with some puffyness around the eyes like never before in my life… not so much the eyeball but the skin around…i was super alarmed. Now i take into account the other times i have woken up scratching or with some type of rash that it could possibly be this dust mite problem that ive never heard of, and not just that but also pet dander, i might have to reconsider my dog sleeping with me at night. Do u believe there might be some sort of spray…or cleaning detergent that can stop this?
